9-Day Tokyo Hanami Tour Itinerary

It is thetraditional custom of enjoying the transient beauty of flowers, but mostcommonly it refers specifically to the annual spring viewing of cherry blossoms(sakura).

Day 1 - Tokyo

We'll start our trip in Tokyo. In the morning we'll visit Chiyoda Park to walk under tunnels of cherry blossoms alongthe central pathway. Next we'll stop at Sumida Park to photograph the Tokyo Skytree with the Sakura trees.

Chiyoda Park  
-Take a relaxing walk under beautiful tunnels of delicate pink cherry blossoms arching over the central pathway of Chiyoda Park. It's a beloved local spot toleisurely admire the seasonal beauty of over 290 cherry trees.  

Sumida Park

Day 2 - Shizuoka

Today we head to Shizuoka Prefecture. Ourfirst stop is Izu Onsen where we can see cherry trees blooming on hillsides while relaxing in hot spring baths. Then we'll drive to Izukogen to wander through the pink marshlands of moss phlox at the Izukogen Highland. Our final destination is Kawazu where we can walk under thousands of early bloomingKawazu cherry trees along the river.

Izu Onsen    
-Bathe in the hot spring baths of Izu Onsen, surrounded by the vibrant jewel tones of rolling hillsides covered in nearly 2,000 cherry trees in full bloom, petals dancing in the wind.

Izukogen    
-Traverse through the otherworldly moorlands of Izukogen Highland, transformed into cotton candy pink marshlands blooming with moss phlox, the fuzzy flowers perfectly complementing the cherry blossoms.

Kawazu    
-Marvel at the early blooming Kawazu cherry trees, with branches weighed nearlyto the ground by thousands of blush pink blossoms along the placid river in Kawazu, drawing admirers from across Japan.

Day 3 - Shizuoka  

In Shizuoka still, we'll start at Odawara Castle ruins to admire the contrast of cherry blossoms against its stone walls. Then we'll have a flower viewing picnic at Onshi-Hakone Park underneath wide expanses of cherry trees with views of Lake Ashi.

Odawara Castle    
-Relax for a morning picnic on lush lawns dotted with cherry trees inside the weathered grey stone walls of Odawara Castle ruins, the moss-covered walls providing a peak into the past underneath explosions of pink.

Onshi-Hakone Park    
-Soak in endless panoramas of blush pink cherry blossom trees contrasted against cobalt blue Lake Ashi from Onshi-Hakone Park, petals from weeping trees dancing downward to meet their reflection below.  

Day 4 - Yokohama

Today we explore Yokohama's best sakura spots. We'll begin along the promenade at Yamashita Park, strolling under its waterfront rows of cherry trees. Then we'll enjoy the sights and smells of Chinatown's vibrant markets and eateries.

Yamashita Park    
Meander slowly down the bustling waterfront promenade of Yamashita Park underneath mature pink weeping cherry trees, pausing frequently for contemplation underneath the gently swaying boughs of flowering branches kissing the walking path below.  

Chinatown    
-Dive into the intoxicating sights and smells of Yokohama's Chinatown, vibrating with energy from sensational markets and eateries, neon lights casting everything in pink underneath omnipresent puffs of cherry blossoms.  

Day 5 - Shonan

As we make our way back towards Tokyo,we'll stop at Shonan with its variety of hanami choices. At Tsurugaoka Hachimangū, we can have a flower viewing picnic under the shrine's cherrytrees. Then we'll visit Hase-Dera Temple to stand under the massive ancient wisteria pergola. Our last stop is Shichirigahama beach to photograph the white sands lined with flowering cherry trees.

Tsurugaoka Hachimangū      
-Soak in tranquility while picnicking underneath majestic cherry trees within the grounds of the imposing red Tsurugaoka Hachimangū Shrine, petals covering stone pathways like a rosy carpet.

Hase-Dera Temple    
-Marvel at the sprawling ancient wisteria pergola of Hase-Dera Temple, vines aswide around as trees twist overhead, interspersed with cloudlike cherry blossom trees, together creating a heavenly floral canopy.

Shichirigahama Beach    
-Admire windswept, powdery white sands lined with cherry trees at Shichirigahama Beach, crystalline waters perfectly reflecting cotton candy clouds of petals, mountains layered in the distance.

Day 6 - Mt Fuji

Today we'll admire cherry blossoms with views of iconic Mt Fuji. Our first destination is Chureito Pagoda where we canframe pictures of the five-story pagoda and Mt Fuji draped in cherry blossoms.Then we'll stroll along the shores of Lake Kawaguchi dotted with pink weeping cherry trees and reflections of Mt Fuji.

Chureito Pagoda      
-Frame postcard perfect images of the five-tiered Chureito Pagoda rising above asea of delicate pink cherry blossoms, iconic Mt. Fuji visible in the background, often still snow-capped, clouds of petals swirling through the air.

Lake Kawaguchi      
-Stroll peacefully along the winding shores of radiant Lake Kawaguchi, dotted with weeping cherry trees bowed under the weight of blush pink blossoms, the still waters perfectly reflecting both endless blue skies and Mt. Fuji's prominent peak.

Day 7 - Mt Fuji

We'll continue taking in Mt Fuji's cherry blossom views by visiting Oshino Hakkai. This small village has spring water pools mirroring inverted images of cherry trees. Then we'll catch rides on rollercoasters at Fuji-Q Amusement Park with the pink flowers and mountain asour backdrop.

Oshino Hakkai    
-Pause to take in the beauty of Oshino Hakkai’s eight spring-fed pools, the still, crystal clear waters reflecting inverted images of fluffy pink cherry blossoms dangling from overhanging branches, a hidden gem of a village.

Fuji-Q Amusement Park      
-Capture delightful photos of vibrant pink puffs of cotton candy cherry blossoms with the picturesque Mt. Fuji as their backdrop, visible in between thrilling rides on the rollercoasters at Fuji-Q Amusement Park.

Day 8 - Tokyo

On our second last day, we return to Tokyo starting at Yoyogi Park. We'll have a picnic at the park's large grass lawns surrounded by cherry trees. Next is Meiji Shrine, where we can photograph the long rows of sakura lining the shrine's pathways. We end the day people watching and shopping in the brightly lit stores of Shibuya.

Yoyogi Park      
-Lounge leisurely for hours on Yoyogi Park’s sprawling grass lawns underneath billowing canopies of cotton candy hued cherry blossoms, soaking in the festive hanami atmosphere on day eight.

Meiji Shrine    
- Lose yourself strolling slowly down the lengthy sand and stone pathways leading through Meiji Shrine, covered by a tunnel of overgrown ancient cherry trees, sunlight filtering through delicate pink petals.

Shibuya    
-Finish off the evening immersed in the pulsing neon nightlife hub of Shibuya, energetic crowds, brightly lit signs, and shops framed by everpresent cherry blossoms, the trees still vibrantly pink even at night.

Day 9 - Tokyo

For our final day, we'll begin in Roppongi admiring modern architecture against explosions of pink flowers. Our last stopis Tokyo Tower, where we can photograph iconic Tokyo with cherry blossoms framing the images.

Roppongi    
-Contrast ultramodern architectural marvels against sweet explosions of pale pink cherry blossoms blooming in Roppongi on the final day, the colorful flowers softening the shiny glass buildings.

Tokyo Tower    
-Conclude this magical cherry blossom adventure with photos of the retro red and white Tokyo Tower, surrounded by puffs of cotton candy hued sakura, providing the quintessential image of iconic springtime Tokyo.
